August 2010
Welcome to the first KKASC online blog! Each month the coaches will post an update on events which have occurred. This will include competition results, any important announcements, or any forthcoming events that we feel you should be made aware of.
The first grand prix of the new season has just taken place and all the coaches were impressed by the improvements made by the swimmers. Many swimmers have been training extremely well over the summer period and have been rewarded with lots of fast times. It just shows that the motivation and dedication to training has paid off for these swimmers. This all bodes well for the upcoming Club Championships on the 17th/18th/19th of September. These will be held at both the Leisuredrome in Bishopbriggs on the 17th, and in Kilsyth swimming pool on the 18th and 19th. This is when the swimmers compete against the others in their age group for the chance to become the champion of their age group. Each swimmer has the opportunity to swim in all of the events on offer, in which they can then gain more points.
Next weekend (28th/29th August) is the Cumbernauld Autumn Graded Age Group Meeting at the Tryst Sports Centre in Cumbernauld. A massive 23 swimmers have entered which is fantastic to see. I hope there will be a real team atmosphere present and all the swimmers will be encouraging each other. We also hope to see lots more personal best times being set!
The 5th/6th September will see the first outing of the Relay Squad. Around 12 young swimmers have been training on a Sunday morning with the specific goal of entering the West District’s as a relay team. Two boys and two girls’ teams have been entered for the freestyle and medley relays at the Citadel in Ayr. We hope this outing will provide extra motivation for these young swimmers to put in even more effort at training to gain the times to be able to enter an individual event in the February 2011 meeting of the West Districts. |
